Here are a few home remedies. These home remedies for removing pet urine from carpets are easy and inexpensive and the best thing is they really work. These remedies are effective on removing that urine smell and stain from carpets and mats that have dried and are old.
Remedy#1,
Make your cleaning solution:
1 Gallon Water
1/4 cup Borax
1/4 cup TSP
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup citrus cleaner
Mix this well
Firstly, in an unnoticeable area test it on your carpet for colorfast. Just turn off the lights and you will find all the urine area. Take a piece of chalk and circle the area. Apply the cleaning solution on those areas and let it remain there for about 10 - 15 minutes. After letting the solution sit take a rag and mark the area starting from the outside edge working toward the center. Extract the remaining solution with your vacuum. Now not only the stain would be gone but also the odor and now it’s up to you to train your dog where to do it.
Remedy#2,
Baking Soda
White Vinegar
Liquid Dishwashing Detergent
3% Hydrogen Peroxide
If the area is still wet you should first try to absorb the dog urine. Leaving it there to dry will only encourage bacteria to grow in it which causes the smell. The best way is to place many layers of paper towel on the wet area and step on it so as to soak up as much of the dog urine as it can.
If urine gets dried then mix a solution of fifty percent white vinegar and fifty percent water. Use a scrubbing brush to make sure it enters the carpet fibers below. Now mark the area again using the paper towel method above. The vinegar will counteract the ammonia in the dog urine. If you have a wet and dry vacuum extractors use it to remove extra moisture. When the area has dried then sprinkle a handful of baking soda over the area. Mix half a cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide with one teaspoon of detergent. Take Ordinary liquid dishwashing detergent. Put on gloves and pour the hydrogen peroxide and detergent mixture over the baking powder. Use a scrubbing brush to Work the dissolving baking soda well into the carpet. When all the area is completely dry then vacuum it thoroughly. If you don't have hydrogen peroxide you could use a spray laundry stain remover instead. See the bottle. If written 'Oxy' anywhere on the label then it might contains hydrogen peroxide.- Related Videos

By: Greta Koenigin | 01/12/2009My husband woke me up from a nap saying, “You better see the bird. It looks likes he’s dying.” I was too afraid to move.
