Family Breeds - Domestic Dogs And Breeding Them!

There is nothing like our family dog. It is almost a piece of Americana. In all cheesy 50's image of a Perfect Family we would see a nice, house with an white fence, Dad and Mom, 2 children (usually a girl and a boy), and an family pooch prancing across the yard, happily. As beautiful the image might be, the fact is that people like dogs and some of the families don't feel complete without a dog.

While choosing a pooch for the family, there are very important things to keep in our mind. Some of dog breeds are great for families but others don't have the correct temperament to deal family life. They might be rough with very small children, needy of own space to manage with the incessant going and coming of the large family, or too aggressive naturally to respond to a family, properly. Other types are perfect fits for the family life. Below are some very best dog breeds for the families.

Golden Retrievers

In fact these are bred like bird dogs (as most retrievers); Golden retriever is a very amazing, loyal and a very protective type. They are very perfect for families which enjoy out of home activities as they love to jump, play and run.

Irish Setters

These are known for the eagerness to please human beings and their pleasant personalities. They also were originally bred for hunting and they serve well for that, but it's their aptitude for friendship which makes them a great family breed.

Collies

It may be one among the types most associated with all the qualities for being a family dog as the popularity due to Lassie TV programs. They are very well characterized by a mix of patience and intelligence uncommon in any other breed.

Boxers

They look huge, scary and do have a very deep, resonating bark which makes intruders worry, but they're truly very gentle, loyal and loving doggies. Their size might make families with very small children to wait for few years before having one, but they're a perfect pet for the family once kids become little elder.

Newfoundland

Do you remember the pooch "Hooch" from a Tom Hanks film Turner and Hooch? Hooch is, a very big, loving pooch which is very friendly. They do tend to drool and slobber excessively, but this is a loving and a very protective pet. As the boxer, only the dog's size might be the concern, but it would be very hard to get a very loyal doggie for the family than this.
