The complete Dog Food and Nutrition Guide
You have to be careful about what you feed your dog. There are a lot of products out there that really aren’t what your pet needs to be eating and can actually cause health problems. You need to know what to look out for and what foods are best for your type of dog.
You may find it surprising but different dogs need different foods, you usually don’t feed a Chihuahua and a Great Dane the same thing. Especially not the same amounts, or you would find yourself missing a Chihuahua soon.
For instance, a larger breed of dog usually needs a dog food that helps support joint health, this can be especially important at a young age. If you give a dog you know is growing to be BIG the right kind of food they will probably be healthier longer. If they don’t grow with the right nutrition then you may be saving money on dog food, but it will come back to you on vet bills.

The correct amount of exercise your dog gets is very important as well. You need to do your research on the breed. If you have a mutt your vet can usually give you a good idea as to what they are and how to care for them. When you research the breed you will learn a few things about their specific needs.
Again, Large breed dogs usually need a lot of exercise, but did you know that little dogs such as Chihuahua’s need just as much if not more? Let’s use the Great Dane and Chihuahua again. The Great Dane has very specific exercise needs, for instance you cannot let them exercise right after eating because the breed has what is call “a hanging stomach” in which the stomach kind of floats and if the dog runs too much the stomach can be wrapped in it’s own cords and hurt the dog, even kill it. Really, a Great Dane doesn’t need that much exercise at all, they tend to do quite well in apartments. Just take them on regular walks.
A Chihuahua on the other hand is a nervous bundle of energy that needs A LOT of exercise. You will find if you go on walks a lot and play often these can be great little dogs but if you keep them in a purt?google_num_ads = google_ads.length; run they can very quickly become very aggressive and even dangerous. This is a fact with most smaller breeds. Most people don’t realize a tiny dog would need a lot of exercise. But you’ll find if you walk the Great Dane and Chihuahua together the Great Dane will tire out before the Chihuahua does.
You have to do your research, and in doing so you’ll keep your dog happy and healthy for a long time.
