For the first few days you might want to give the new puppy that same food that they were receiving at the kennel you bought them from. A crate is useful training tool both for house training and puppy behavior in general. Treat it as you would a child's bedroom. It is a safe comfortable place to sleep but occasionally they will be sent there when naughty.
