Cats or dogs, if you have owned any of these you would know what a menace these fleas can cause to them. They can come from the smallest of cracks in the window and can happen to you cat even if she never leaves the house or meets other animals. The reason why it is so impossible to avoid them even if you keep your house impeccably clean is because they multiply like rabbits. Any cat can get fleas irrespective of the kind of house that she lives in and whether she goes outdoors or not.

Fleas can cause a lot of discomfort to your cat. They cause itching and can even lead to sores and infections in the animal. The best option that was available in the market earlier was flea powder or flea collar. Between these two a flea collar works better than a flea powder since while applying flea powder one can miss out certain spots that the errant flea is sure to find and settle in. I have personally used a flea collar for my cat and seen that it is extremely effective. To give you an idea of the efficaciousness let me relate an incident to you.

Once my neighbor who has a dog infected with fleas came over to use my phone. I insisted that the dog be left outside since I could see that he was infected and wanted to avoid my cat from getting them. But unfortunately, the neighbor got in some fleas that had inadvertently settled in his sweater. I know for a fact that this is true because one of the fleas even bit me. My cat, however, did not have a single flea settling on to her thanks to the protective nature of her flea collar.

But of late one has heard that there is a new method of keeping fleas at bay. This is a flea medicine that comes in the form of drops and can be rubbed easily and evenly on to the coat of the animal. These cat flea medicines are available at any grocery or shop that has a pet corner and a visit to the veterinarian is not necessary to get a bottle of the same. Some people have mentioned that application of this flea medicine on the coat makes cats a bit disturbed and irritable for about 24 hours. Checking with a veterinarian will tell you that these medicines are not painful and neither do they cause any irritation of the skin. The sulky or snappy behavior probably stems from being subjected to any kind of medicine and the outrage that follows should be ignored for the higher cause of a flea-less pet
