Proven Solutions to Stop Dogs Barking

I guess if you're taking the time to read this article that you own a dog who barks excessively and that you are desperate for solutions to stop dogs barking. I know what you're going through - my dog used to bark at anyone or anything that went past the house; she used to bark so much at visitors that I used to have to shut her in another room, and worst of all she used to start barking in the early hours which then induced all the neighboring dogs to join in. It seriously got to the point where I almost began to hate her, and was considering having her re-homed.

In desperation I tried the following 3 methods which worked and which anyone can use as a solution to stop dogs barking

Firstly it is of paramount importance that you establish your role as the pack leader or alpha dog. Once you have your dog's respect it is far easier to train her to do what you tell her. The moment I started introducing a few changes to let her know I was boss, she became more receptive to what I was asking her to do.

Dogs need to be exercised daily, and I'm not talking about a 15 minute stroll around the block. I found if I made the effort to get up earlier and took my dog for a good walk, lasting about an hour, where she could run around and preferably romp with other dogs, then she would happily settle down for most of the day and could even be left on her own.

When your dog is barking try to get her attention with a clap or a whistle and then when she is quiet redirect her attention to something like a treat or a favourite toy which can be kept specifically for this purpose.

Stick at it – your dog won't stop barking overnight, but be patient and reward her when she does stop barking and above all never lose your temper or you will undo all the good work that you have done

Cast your mind back to when you first got your dog. How excited you were and how much attention you used to give her. You need to try and rekindle those feelings and that will go a long way towards controlling her excessive barking. I've given you some tips to get you started but I'd like to share more in depth solutions to stop dogs barking and other behavioral problems at my website www.petproductz.com
