Rottweilers make good pets and can be a loyal member of a family but they are also popular in the security industry.
Rottweiler training begins with early socialisation. It is very important that this dog is shown that other dogs and humans are not a threat. The Rottweiler is a sturdy animal and they love to take center stage. It can be an easy breed to train as long as you remain in control and remain confident.
Bear in mind when you start Rottweiler training that this is a loyal family orientated dog and anxious to please, which can make training easier but they can be easily distracted so it is best to make the early training sessions in a quiet place.
This can be an aggressive breed so it is important to train it sensitively and all good rottweiler training should start with the simplest commands like sit and stay. Bear in mind that this can be a breed that tries to dominate so be assertive and reward good behavior.
A good idea for early training, once your dog is used to you and your family, is to introduce a friend to accompany you from time to time to socialise your dog more.
Like most dog training, rottweiler training demands pateince and some endurance. Ensure that he has taken in the training before moving onto the next stage. A rottweiler is an intelligent beast but can be a bit forgetful and sometimes you need to check that they have grasped what they are supposed to do.You will probably find that on occasions they won't have and you may need to return to basics for a while just to make sure. Patience is the key.
If you repeat basic stuff daily and then build on it you will find rottweiler training can be easy as long as you dont expect overnight success.
You need persistence and try and teach each command in the same way. If for example you decide to try clicker training, then use this technique throughout.
Like any dog training you have to remember to reward when a task is carried out well.
