Small Pets – Tips for Care and Management

There will not be much difference in owning a small dog or a big one. But, the owners have to do some adjustments to cater the requirement of the needs of the small dogs. Many points have to be taken into consideration to meet the day to day requirements for the small kind of dogs.

As the small dogs cannot eat the regular foods that are given to big dogs, care should be given while purchasing the food item for the dog from the departmental stores. The size of the dog’s jaw has to be considered when a kibble is purchased. Small size of kibble will not be available in all the departmental stores and hence a good search is required to get the same. Canned soft foods are also recommended for the small pets.

Routine exercise has to given to all the dogs. To fulfill the potty needs for the dogs an open air place is required. When compared to the big dogs, small dogs will always be lively. The security required for the small dog is more on comparison to the big ones. When you say it may look strange, but the fact is big birds just take the very small dogs from the garden. So it is a must to have the kennel which has coverage over the head.

Many small dogs are spoiled by its owners. The experts in the dog training say that it will not be difficult to train any dog. Hence the most important factor is giving training to the dogs in the house. The dog has to be prepared to work for the owners and in turn to obey the orders given by its owners. The dog should be trained with the various activities before the meal is given to it. Then only it will be easy for the owner to give the required training to the dog. Proper training given by the owner himself or with the help of the dog trainer will make the dog to do various work for the owners.

Extraordinary grooming is required for the small dogs. Big dogs often walk and hence its nails get trimmed automatically. But, in the case of small dogs, since it does not walk very frequently, trimming of the nails has to be done quite often. The cleaning of teeth should also be done regularly for the small dogs since it consumer more canned foods. In the case of trimming of fur on the dogs, it has to be done for both types of dogs, whether it is big or small.
