If your grown dog is biting you or other people in a non-playful way, then you should obviously be concerned. If a dog feels cornered or crowded, it maybe feel threatened and retaliate by biting. A dog may also bite a stranger if he feels his space is threatened. When training your dog not to bite, never punish him by hitting him. This will only make him more aggressive towards you. Non-physical punishment or positive reinforcement is always more effective. So why do dogs chew on stuff? There are many reasons that could cause this behavior. If your dog only chews on your stuff when you are away, then it is most likely out of boredom.
