The Key to Potty Training Puppies

When you bring a sweet, chubby puppy into your home, you are excited and anxious about your new friend. Eventually the responsibility of owning such a great animal sets in - you realize that they need to be potty trained. When it comes to training puppies, potty training puppies is the first task you should start with. While training your puppy you should never threaten or punish them as it can ruin any progress you may have made. Patience and persistence are the only way to successfully potty train puppies. House breaking your dog is a gradual process and may require a few weeks or longer.

Initially puppies may not follow the rules or understand what you want them to do. You will almost definitely see a few incidents occur in this period where your puppy tries to understand right from wrong. Instead of abusing and punishing them you should deal with care and affection. This not only helps them learn quicker but it is the right thing to do - they have no idea what right from wrong is!

When potty training puppies you will need to establish a well planned routine. Every day at a specific time they should be taken out to get exercise and go to the bathroom. This routine should be followed everyday at the same time even if your puppy does not want to perform the task. Slowly they will learn to hold their urge to go to the bathroom until you take them outdoors.

While house training puppies you will learn to read the signs they exhibit when they need to perform a certain task. Movement of their tail or ears, sounds they produce and the body movement they show will let you know what they may need. It may be frustrating for you while learning how potty training puppies works but you need to be patient. After a few weeks you will be happy to watch your puppy learning right from wrong.
