Dogs can be described as one of the most playful creatures. Though there are some of them that would love to stay at home, most of the breeds love the sunshine and even the rain. They would love to chase objects, other animals, or children. They can also wander off.
It is when your dogs are no longer found within your vicinity and without your knowledge that you should start to worry. Even if some dogs can find their way home, most do not. Others are also picked up by dog pounds. If you do not want your dog to just walk away, you may have to use an electric dog fence system.
Doing It Wireless
An electric dog fence is the most ideal device you should use if you want to contain your dog but does not have enough room for a gate or a real fence. It could also be that you are living in an apartment or condominium, and a gate is definitely out of the question.
It works this way: your electric fence will create an invisible boundary on your desired area. Your dog, on the other hand, will wear a receiver collar. Every time that your dog attempts to cross the "line," the collar will then send an alert tone, forcing your pooch to go back to his or her old path.
You can actually find two types of pet containment system today. One of these is the traditional one, where you have to set up wires, flags, and poles all around the area. If you do not want any hassle, you may then use the wireless system.
As its name suggests, there are no more wires to bury. Rather, you just need to turn on the transmitter once the order arrives at your doorstep. It will automatically create the boundary for you. Before you make a purchase, though, know the exact area coverage of your device. Nevertheless, if you are looking for the best deal, you may want to get that of PetSafe since their electric dog fence can cover twice as much as the other systems in the market.
Containing More than One Dog
You may wonder, "Is it possible for me to contain more than just one dog?" The answer is yes. The electric dog fence can work in all breeds. However, since collars play a vital role in containing your pet, you may have to purchase an extra receiver for your other dogs.
You may then attach the receiver into the collars of your other pets. You do not have to be scared about its size. It is too small, wearing only an ounce, that your dog would never be able to detect its presence. You also have the option to adjust the correction level of your collar depending on the temperament of your pet.
The electric dog fence is completely safe and humane. It does not cause damage or health problems to your pet. Rather, it will discipline him or her with regards to his or her activities.
