While your dog may love "table food" is it good for him? The following is a list of foods that are toxic to your dog.
Alcohol - Can cause coma and death
Avocado - Can cause upset stomach, vomiting and can lead to pancreatitis
Baby Food - May contain onion powder
Broccoli and Liver - Are good for your dog if given in moderation. If given as more then 10% of your pet's diet, it can lead to illness.
Cat Food - Too high in protein and fats.
Cherries - Can cause cyanid poisoning.
Chocolate - Affects the heart and nervous system. Can cause heart attack.
Chewing Gum and Candy - If it contains Xylitol, it can lead to seizures and lethargy.
Citrus Oil - Can cause vomiting.
Coffee, Tea, and Other Caffeine - Affects heart and nervous system
Fat trimmings and Turkey skin - Can cause pancreatitis.
Macadamia Nuts - Affects the digestive system, nervous system and muscles.
Milk and other Dairy Products - Can cause diarrhea.
Mushrooms - Affect different systems in the body and can lead to shock and death.
Nutmeg - Affects Central Nervous System and can lead to seizures and death.
Onions and Garlic - Can damage red blood cells and cause anemia.
Permissons - Can affect digestive system.
Potato Peelings and Green Potatoes - Affects digestive, nervous, and urinary systems.
Raisins and Grapes - Can cause kidney failure.
Raw eggs - Can lead to skin and coat problems.
Raw fish - Can lead to seizures and death.
Walnuts - Can cause gastroenteritis.
Yeast Dough - Can cause rupturing of the stomach and intestines.
Remember that table scraps should only be given in moderation. Avoid giving your dog bones or pits because they pose a choking hazard and serious digestive problems if swallowed.
