The Choir Director

Long ago there was a choir director who was very popular and handsome. He was also proud and thought highly of himself. As time went on he plotted to take charge and take a place above all others.

He was expelled along with one third of the congregation to a far away place where he ruled for a long time.

There was later a lovely garden in this place that was the home of a very well known couple. They cared for the garden and all the living creatures that lived there. They followed all the laws and were very upstanding, until the choir director lead them in the wrong direction. They broke the law and had to leave the garden.

Their family grew and they had lovely children, so lovely that followers of the choir director took many of them as their wives. Their children were mighty and strong, some were even giants.

Now the One who expelled the choir director saw what a mess things had become and regretted that he had given the couple from the garden so much freedom.

Who is this One who threw out the choir director? We have to travel back in time a little further, to a time when things did not exist as we know them today. We do not know how many worlds have come and gone or kingdoms have risen and falling. We dig and find signs of things before recorded history and we look through our strongest telescopes to view worlds that existed millions of years ago. The light from these distance worlds reaching us only after hundreds of millions of years and they may not even exist now.

What an understatement it was to say that there is a great gulf fixed between heaven and earth! The more we learn about our existence and the existence of the worlds around us, the more questions we have. I have hear it said that you cannot put God in a bottle. His ways are greater than ours. His time is not our time. We have been given a short time slot in the great scheme of things. It is like having a two hour movie and only being able to watch 30 seconds!

The choir director is still playing with our minds, creating problems any time he can. He did not lie to Eve in the garden, he just did not tell her the complete truth, which is just the same as lying or misleading someone. He loves to get us off on the wrong track with half truths and into arguments about the age of the earth, creation and evolution. The world could have been created in six days or six billion years and the result would still be the same. However we do get clues from the Bible of events before the creation of earth and about events that will occur after all we know is long past.

We know for example, the finial destiny of the choir director and where he will spend eternity along with all those that follow him. We also know that God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

What does it mean to be European?

By: Eddie Howden | 23/12/2009
Bismarck’s remarked that Europe was a mere geographical notion. "Europe has never existed" he claimed, "One has genuinely to create Europe" Edmund Burke in 1796 claimed, "No European can be a complete exile in any part of Europe." Whichever way you might think, the fact remains that European civilization has dominated the globe from the Neanderthal man up to landing on the moon. The question the modern European asks today is: “ If I am European, what does this mean?”

By: Prof.dr. Ibrahim Khalil | 19/12/2009
The Bible says that the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life. The Quran says that whoever acts righteously, whether male or female, and is a believer, shall be admitted into Paradise regardless of his or her race, color, location etc.

Unexplained Phenomena and Our Brain's Ability to Hide Behind Reason

By: Addison Prescot | 02/12/2009
One hundred years ago if I were to start explaining to people that soon there would be cell phones and people could talk to each other from thousands of miles away, I would have been lucky not to have been locked up. New Ideas must be presented in such a fashion as to not overwhelm the brain. This is why much of what we now view as 'unexplained phenomena' is actually just what I like to call future facts.

What is your TV Resolution?

By: Hubert Crowell | 20/06/2009 | Electronics
As we move into the age of High-Definition television and digital signals it may help us to understand all the discussion about the new technology, if we review the basic principles of how a television works. Some of us grew up with black and white TV's or no TV at all and soon we will all be watching Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) TV's plastered on every wall. It is hard enough absorbing all the images being thrown at us, much less the technology that makes it all possible.
