Whats best for one set of people is not always an easy fit for others. It is always a good idea to meet with your potential photographer as early as possible to see if there is a mutual fit. Personality and looks always need to be addressed as early on as possible so that you have left yourself plenty of time to meet with other service providers in case your first choice was not compatiable with your needs or comfort level. Everyone in todays economy needs to be on a budget or cost vs. service agreement. Meeting with your service provider is a good way to view more of their samples and judge their personality and whether you feel comfortable that they will be able to fill your needs within a set budget. Price alone should not be the sole factor in choosing a photographer, it is best to be a bit flexiable on cost so that you might be able to incorporate other factors into your final agreement, such as additional services like engagement portraits, bridal portraits, time spent at the wedding and number of prints offered and delivery schedules, etc. A personal meeting lets you really find out how much experience a person has, plus the ability to guage the persons attitude and personality which is a big factor in their ability to capture the more intimate images you desire. Ask questions about their equipment and how long they have had their current equipment, etc. all of this information is important in determining if your service provider is truly a professional or just looking to score some needed extra weekend cash. You never want to leave your most memorable moments unrecorded, and you should'nt have to worry about where your photographer is, a true professional will always be at the right spot at the right time.
