Record Number of Patients Flock to Los Angeles Dentist for Hypermobile Lip Procedure

Beverly Hills, California – April 9, 2009 – Despite the state of the economy, recently there has been a considerable increase in demand for the minimally invasive treatment of gummy smiles developed by Los Angeles cosmetic dentist, Dr. Alex Farnoosh. An increase in media attention about the treatment appears to be the reason for the popularity of this procedure known as “Hypermobile Lip Surgery”, or “lip lowering”. A survey conducted by the American Academy of Periodontology found that more than 73% of respondents did not realize a procedure existed that could make their smile less gummy despite a significant percentage citing unhappiness with the gumminess of their smile. Recent attention to Dr. Farnoosh’s approach has helped to provide a solution for this problem.

Traditional surgeries of the past that were used to correct a high lip line have been invasive. For example, portions of the upper jaw bone were often surgically cut and then repositioned to correct the problem. However, this type of procedure is very costly, has a number of risks involved, requires general anesthesia, and patients often report high levels of pain following the procedure. As a result, a majority of patients seeking to correct their gummy smile do not undergo the traditional surgical treatment and remain dissatisfied with their smile and appearance.

The Hypermobile Lip procedure involves lowering the lip line thereby reducing the amount of gum that is exposed while smiling. Unlike the traditional treatment, this procedure uses local anesthesia to numb the area. This makes the procedure safer, expedites the patient’s recovery with minimal pain and allows for the procedure cost to be more economical.

Thanks to his unique approach to Hypermobile Lip surgery, Dr. Farnoosh’s patients are able to smile with confidence. The popularity of this treatment method has been widespread and has generated demand from patients across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Dr. Farnoosh’s fly-in program makes it easy for patients to visit his Beverly Hills office from across the United States or around the world. Additionally, he can combine Hypermobile Lip Surgery with crown lengthening if needed or even coordinate the placement of veneers to further drastically enhance patients’ smiles. Other procedures, such as gum bleaching for the treatment of discolored gums and traditional teeth cleaning / whitening services, can also be performed at his office.

Dr. Farnoosh is a leader in the field of cosmetic dentistry and aesthetic periodontal surgery. In addition to his 25 years of experience in private dental practice he has been teaching for more than two decades at the University of Southern California. Because of his credentials, he is considered by the Consumer Research Council (CRC), an independent research organization, to be one of “America’s Top Dentists”. Dr Farnoosh has also pioneered and patented new treatments such as the restoration of natural color to discolored gums. His innovative research and pioneering procedures have earned him the recognition of the International Association of Dental Research and the American Academy of Periodontology.
