If you are interested in choosing a triple board certified plastic surgeon that is nationally recognized for his surgical results, please contact the Broadway Center for Plastic Surgery today to schedule a consultation with Dr. David Broadway.
Plastic surgeons are usually board certified. Board certifications are in place to regulate surgeons and to hold them to the highest standard of care. These specialty certifications create trust between the patient and the surgeon. Choosing a plastic surgeon that is board certified is extremely important. Some surgeons are not board certified or are not certified for the plastic surgery procedure you are interested in.
Your surgeon can be certified with one or more board certifications. A triple board certified plastic surgeon is the best choice to provide you with top-notch surgical results. There are several specialty certifications for plastic surgeons that are regulated by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS).
Board Certifications for Plastic Surgeons
The specialty certifications for plastic surgeons are:
- The American Board of Plastic Surgery
- The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
- American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
- American Board of Otolaryngology
It is very rare to find a doctor who is certified with more than one of these specialty boards. These certifications involve strict guidelines and only those surgeons who meet these guidelines may be considered for membership.
The American Board of Plastic Surgery
This board only accepts surgeons who have graduated from a medical school that is accredited by the Liaison Committee for Medical Education (LCME) or by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS). These surgeons’ professional activity must mainly be in the field of plastic surgery. Furthermore, a surgeon’s professional conduct must conform to the guidelines mandated by the Board’s Code of Ethics.
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS)
This board requires that surgeons who wish to be certified are board certified with the American Board of Plastic Surgery. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery is the leading specialty association of board certified plastic surgeons who specialize in procedures of the body and face.
American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS)
This board was established to improve and maintain the highest quality surgical and medical treatment provided to the public. All members of this board are examined for their professional expertise and quality of care in the fields of facial and reconstructive surgery.
American Board of Otolaryngology
An Otolaryngologist is a head and neck surgeon. Being board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology means that a surgeon wished to improve his or her performance and show a commitment and dedication to the profession.
