Songwriting, the Art of Telling Someone About How You Feel About Them, Love Them, and Hurt for Them

Life is like a whisper and Time is only on the wall
and though our days are numbered here,
We still might be the next to fall.

I wrote this ^ twelve years ago, to express my feelings toward the woman I love, It is titled: The delicate sound of your heartbeat. One night I lay beside her with my ear to her chest, it was late and the house was silent. She had slipped off to sleep and there I was, caught up in the sound of life, her life, in my ear. Thump Thump, Thump Thump, Thump Thump, fading as I slipped off to sleep beside her. That night, I dreamed about what was going on in the world at that time, the news was just eat up with very little Good, and a whole lot of Bad, and in this dream I remembered how I had fell asleep beside her, with my ear to her chest, with the sound of her heartbeat, the delicate sound of her heartbeat, whispering in my ear. I dreamed on into the night about love, lost souls to murder, the homeless, and more love, even lost loves. This dream intensified to a level so, that I woke up shaking and afraid. It was then that I realized where I was, and that she was still sleeping, peacefully beside me. I could not sleep, I got up and got a pen and paper, went to the living room, sat down and this is what I wrote.

Life is like a whisper, Time is only on the wall,
and though our days here are all numbered,

In my mind I keep thinking,
of what this life here means to me.
It's plain to see, but hard to believe,
that it all comes down, to the delicate sound,of your heartbeat.
On the streets there are many,
who have no place to call home.
On the news theres more murder,
this is our world, this can't go on,
In my mind I keep thinking,
of what this life here means to me.
It's plain to see, but hard to believe,
that it all comes down, to the delicate sound,of your heartbeat.
Girl, the delicate sound of your heartbeat, whispers in the night,
It's a wonderful feeling, to hold you so tight.
Baby, I don't know what tomorrow may bring,
But tonight, my heart sings,
with the delicate sound, of your heartbeat, whispering tonight.

This might not seem like much to anyone who reads it, but it means everything to me. I can close my eyes and feel her in every stitch of my heart strings. When we are apart, I look for her at every moment, to arrive. Well, I hope you have someone in your life that makes you feel all mushy inside. If you don't, I hope that you are looking for them at every moment, to arrive.
