Kingsley OkaforIgwe: Just a Person
The Rebirth of Niger:
Kingsley C OkaforIgwe
Along the Niger
The reawakening:
The rebirth of civilization
The emancipation of life force
The rediscovery of self
Let the river flow
Venerating the heritage
The ingenuity,
Of departed ancestors
Gone are days
Of lethargic self-depletion.
Gone is sackcloth.
Alive,
The heroes past,
Come alive.
In a million fold,
Alive:
Our heroes live,
To revive the misplaced,
Tradition misplaced.
Let the river flow
From the land of many spirits,
The missionaries fled.
Leaving behind the mission;
The mission irreconcilable;
Diametrically opposed,
The many spirits of the land,
Opposed.
Let the river flow:
In our lives, we must carry
The spirit of our ancestors;
Their steadfastness,
We must demonstrate.
With our tongues,
We must profess.
Our story,
We must tell.
Let the river flow.
Each one of us owes this duty,
Duty we must pay:
For our relevance,
We must pay.
For our children,
We must pay.
A person abandoning this duty
Is not worth a coin.
Who are they,
Those absconding?
From what must they abscond?
The foundation is laid,
All are called.
Every life has a calling
In every one of us,
There is a calling.
In every one of us,
There is a role to play
In every life,
There is a purpose
Heed your calling:
Your purpose in life
And
Let the river flow
Along the Niger,
Awaken our children,
To the rebirth
Of our civilization.
Let the river flow.

Submission in Response To: Australian Government Green Paper on Homelessness
By: Kingsley OkaforIgwe | 24/05/2008 | PoliticsAustralian Government recently announced its determination to tackle homelessness .It is imperative that while seeking to address issues of homelessness, that the problems confronting migrant populations are not ignored or being swept under the carpet. Fast tracking employment options for migrants, or at least the provision of level playing grounds would go a long way to addressing homelessness currently being experienced by some sections of the migrant community.
