Florida & Michigan

What's going to happen to the delegates from these two states and why is Florida always embroiled in some voting mess anyway? Much of Hillary's strategy to wrest the nomination from front-leading Barack Obama (if he doesn't shoot himself in the foot) was in getting a do-over in Michigan and Florida. As much as the delegate vote count mattered, it was the popular vote that she needed as well. And?

Ten wealthy Democrats have offered to pay for a new presidential primary in Michigan — all with ties to Hillary Rodham Clinton, who showed up in the state Wednesday seeking a revote. Five of the donors are listed on Clinton's campaign website as among her major fundraisers. All 10 have contributed to Clinton's presidential or Senate campaigns or the races run by former president Bill Clinton, according to federal data compiled by the non-profit Center for Responsive Politics.

Does this surprise anyone?

If Hillary can't get a do-over in Florida and Michigan it's doubtful she can win the popular vote. It's for certain that she can't win the pledged delagate vote. So, does she make back room deals and win the super delegates while trashing Obama as much as she can? The Rev. Jeremiah Wright is doing all he can to help Hillary. :-(

Wealthy individuals can legally contribute unlimited sums to state political efforts but can't give more than $4,600 to federal candidates for primary and general elections. Obama spokesman Bill Burton said the donor list is "even more evidence that Clinton is willing to do absolutely anything to get elected." Billionaire financier George Soros, an Obama supporter, declined Rendell's request to help foot the bill for a Michigan revote. Soros does not support holding another primary in Michigan. Duh!

So, Bill and Hill need to go on the attack (more) and try and give Obama two black eyes. If she can begin to show Barack as damaged goods, maybe they'll turn to her: as though she's not damaged goods? But the latest Rasmussen poll has Hillary behind McCain by 10 percentage points while Obama is only behind by seven points.

Offering Obama the vice presidential slot didn't work- in fact it back fired. So, now what?

Bring on the bitter poison!

Policeman – A stranger in his own community

By: Farman Nawaz | 15/11/2009
Why a man in police uniform belonging to our own community stands like a stranger? Whether it is raining, hot summer or freezing winter, this man is always there holding a rifle. No body bothers to ask him how are you? On the last Eid ul Fither a policeman standing outside a mosque, started weeping while talking to TV reporter that no body greeted me at this holy day. When the same reporter met with the high official of Police, he also could not control his expression of grief.

African Bureaucracies

The context in many African countries (among others) is not conducive to successful bureaucracies. Organizing Workshops to Design Anti-Corruption Strategies

By: Artur Victoria | 15/11/2009
High-level participatory diagnoses have proved remarkably fruitful in generating frank analyses of sensitive policy issues, leading to suggestions for remedial measures. But sometimes there is no carrot or stick to keep that momentum moving. The dividing line between "willing" and "unwilling" leaders is not as precise as journalistic accounts may make...

Fight Against Corruption - After Deterrence Comes the Structural Changes

By: Artur Victoria | 15/11/2009
A campaign against corruption must be credible. The public has grown cynical. Citizens and bureaucrats have heard all the words before. They have even seen a few minor prosecutions. But the culture of corruption remains, especially the feeling of high-level impunity. As a result, people feel that awful sense of...
