Late Term Abortion: A Two Edged Sword

The issue of abortion is a very emotional one. People's views are strong and can be poles apart. Some feel that abortion is murder no matter what the stage of pregnancy. Others believe that it is perfectly alright to terminate a pregnancy at any stage. There is no common ground. No one seems to get far enough past the emotions to think about what a two edged sword abortion laws are.

The main problem with arguments about abortion is that no one can agree on at what point after the joining of an egg and sperm the fetus becomes a person. When does a fetus stop being a fetus and become a child? Since President Obama has said that he will sign a bill that allows for late term abortion, this question must be given a lot of thought. Such a bill will affect more than abortion rights. It will affect how we legally view the loss of the much wanted child as well as the unwanted one.

If a woman who is seven or eight months pregnant is not carrying a "child" than she can not loose a "child." If she is beaten by her husband or lover and miscarries, the charge would have to be assault not murder. If she miscarries due to an accident caused by a drunk driver she will not legally have lost a child. We live in a day and age where surgical procedures can be done in the womb. If the fetus is not yet a person does the insurance company have to cover the cost? Is the baby born prematurely more human than a fetus still in the womb? If a woman miscarries late in her pregnancy do we consider her loss something worth morning or a minor issue?

This may sound a bit unreal to you but if you think about it you will see that there is more to this issue than emotion. It is not just a question of abortion. It is a question of when does that joined egg and sperm become human? We can not decide the question of abortion until we answer that question because we can not have it both ways.

Poemas Esparsos!

Obama's Socialist Health Care Plan-A Fraud for America

By: byron ruffin | 17/12/2009
H.R. 3962, the health care reform bill being pushed through Capitol Hill, is nothing more than another fraudulent scheme of suspected Kenya-born Obama's unconstitutional and un-American agenda to undermine the freedom, prosperity, health and natural rights of every American citizen. The health care reform that Obama wants to impose is a socialist system in which Americans will have less control over their own lives and the government will assume more.

Unruly Cops in the U.S

By: Kasan Groupe | 14/12/2009
We’ve all seen it before and it makes me just cringe. Though police officers are paid to protect the public and enforce the laws, they break the laws just like regular human beings do. I mean how many times in your life have you seen a cop car quickly flip his cherries and berries to get through a red light before the rest of us? Or how about when they take part in sleezy drug trades that are covered up as acts of vigilance? This is just uncalled for and to put in street terms, it is straight up BOGUS.

Late Term Abortion: A Two Edged Sword

By: Barb Carges | 11/03/2009 | Politics
President Obama has said that he would sign a bill including late term abortion which means that it is time to put aside the emotions and take a look at what it would mean legally. This is not just a question of a woman's right to chose, it will effect the way the legal system looks at pregnancy.

If, like me, your always on the look for new books and authors you might want to check out self published books. The capability to Print On Demand has made self publishing easy and affordable. This article reviews two such books.
