Martin Luther King Baton

I am sure that neither Bill Clinton not Hillary ever thought four years ago that they would be fighting for the Black vote in America. They had that all locked up with just WORDS. George W. Bush brought more black judges and high level government people into his administration than Bill Clinton. But here Bill was sitting on his butt while everyone else was giving Shirley Franklin a standing ovation!

With former President Bill Clinton standing not 20 feet in front of her, Atlanta mayor Shirley Franklin took what appeared to be a political shot at the former president's comments about Barack Obama's candidacy! Well, some "appearances" are more disguised than hers.

Obama has more in common with Martin Luther King, Jr. than Bubba from Arkansas!

Speaking at the 40th annual MLK commemorative service at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Franklin said the country is on the "cusp of turning the impossible into reality. Yes this is reality, not fantasy or fairy tales."recently took heat for using the term "fairy tale" to describe Obama's depiction of his stance on the war. and trying to pit black on black tensions won't work in 2008.

Byt the way, Shirley Franklin has endorsed Obama, who spoke from the same pulpit at Ebenezer on Sunday. But that notwithstanding, Bill with less class than should be expected of an ex-President sat on his butt after her speech while the crowd of more than 2000 rose to its feet. Instead Bubba sat in his front pew seat and clapped politely. How uncool!

Five seats to Clinton's left sat another former Arkansas govenor, Republican Mike Huckabee, also seeking his party's nomination as president. Maybe Mike and Bubba grew up on different side of the tracks in Arkansas. Mike at least stood at the end of Franklin's remarks. Earlier in her address, Franklin said the country was nearing a historic occasion when it could elect as president, "a former first lady, a Mormon, a Baptist preacher, and yes, a black man."

But, by his actions, the first woman that would be president is being hindered more of recent by her husband. I wonder if he knows that?

Should Gordon Brown have used the 'C' Word?

By: Phil Marks | 06/01/2010
The high UK tax burden (more than 40% and growing) has been brought into sharp focus in the last few of months in the UK, but is really in the spotlight now as the General Election campaign gets underway, January week 1, 2010. The main UK election battle ground between the political parties is the massive mountain of debt facing Great Britain and how it is to be reduced. Gordon Brown has avoided using the word 'Cuts' - could it have cost him the Labour Party Leadership?
