What if we have two men going at it for the November campaign? Well, if we do, they won't be two traditional white men going at each other. Instead we will see two very unique styles that political pundits are beginning to try and articulate- assuming Hillary will come in a close second, but no roses for the almost female presidential nominee.

The differences are very striking indeed, and I'm not talking just about the color of their skin and go well beyond older, white and Republican vs. younger, black and Democratic. Just those comparisons alone are striking!

On the campaign trail, those embedded reporters confirm what it is that we spectators see. John McCain is more spontaneous and accessible while Barack Obama is more disciplined and remote. They are both two unconventional presidential candidates, each with styles all their own- more so than past match-up differences.

McCain, 5-foot-9 and spry at age 71, has a ramrod posture, quick movements and clenched fists; he darts from here to there as if spurred forward by jolts of energy. The combination can make him come across as stiff, despite his remarkably informal and off-the-cuff approach. And McCain prefers to run against Hillary.

Obama, age 46 and lanky at 6-foot-2, seems to glide, his head held high, his gait long and his arms swinging freely at his sides if not buried in pockets. His laid-back mannerisms can seem overly casual, and they belie his highly scripted and picture-perfect appearances. And many think he's a Muslim in sheep's clothing.

The divergent personal styles and campaign approaches, particularly during the primary season, offer a glimpse of a possible matchup this fall should Obama win the Democratic nomination over Hillary Rodham Clinton and go head-to-head with McCain, the GOP nominee-in-waiting. At this point, Obama leads Clinton in pledged delegates; it is mathematically difficult for her to win.

Did I mention one is a moderate trying to dress-up in conservative garb while the other is a flaming liberal trying to dress up in some moderate attire? Oh yeah- there are major differences in these two menQ

Conservatives Voting for a Socialist?
By: J.J. Jackson | 27/04/2008 | Politics
You may have come across the latest claims by so called “conservatives” who are calling radio talk shows and writing letters to the editor. They claim, being conservatives, that they are so disgruntled with John McCain being the nominee of the Republican Party that they are going to do something rather bizarre. What is this bizarre thing? Why they are going to vote for a socialist, namely Barack Obama if he is the Democrat nominee, in November.

The Madness of Would-be King John
By: J.J. Jackson | 08/01/2008 | Politics
Liberals complain loudly about President Bush and how he is supposedly accruing power to the Executive Branch. While he has certainly promoted some bad laws, which liberals would tend to love otherwise, that increase the power of the federal government as a whole and without Constitutional Amendment, to say that he is accruing power for himself is a bit of a stretch. If you listen to the political left, President Bush is a virtual tyrant wielding dictatorial power.

You can't have it both ways! You can't offer to the populace the chance to decide who they want to be their presidential nominee and then reverse it by the political insiders because they don't trust the constituency to know what's right.

By: Ernie Fitzpatrick | 10/03/2008 | Politics
The CLintons are more than a weird couple in so many ways; however, it is the way they do business and live life that's more than sureal. Hillary is running #2 in pledged delegates so she wants #1 to be her #2? How's that work?

Thinking about not voting?????
By: fredst | 11-07-2008
This is the simplest, most understandable and truest explanation of the woes of the nation and who caused them, as well as how to cure them. This should be sent to every person in the U.S. , including the '545'  545 People  By Charlie Reese --  Orlando Sentinel Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits? Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes? You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does. You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does. You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does. You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does. You and I don't control monetary policy, The Federal Reserve Bank does. One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president and nine Supreme Court justices - 545 human beings out of the 300 million - are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered but private central bank.I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes. Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party. What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget.. He cannot force the Congress to accept it. The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes.Who is the speaker of the House? She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto  if they agree to.It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts - of incompetence and irresponsibility.I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist. If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair. If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.If the Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQIf they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way. There are no insoluble government problems. Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power.Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like 'the economy,' 'inflation' or 'politics' that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power. They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses - provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees. We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!   Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel   And keep in mind this congress only worked 93 days last year.  The shortest season in history and at a time that we are at war and the economy is in the tank.  Vote early and vote often.  Lets clean house and start over!  If you don't vote, don't bitch !!!Personally I'm dreading this election. I don't like, or trust, either candidate...but I'm gonna vote. I'll vote for the one I dislike the least and trust the most. Then I'm gonna get LOTS more involved with local politics...thats where we can all start. This country....OUR country...is broken. WE must fix it. Please vote!
