On November 4th Obama made history by winning the presidential election.
This was a historic event that will bring about much change in the country and for African Americans in the United States of America. It is hopeful that the election of Barack Obama will bring change to this country.
The Barack Obama campaign was something to be admired. They ran a clean campaign and showed genuine interest in the people and there views. It is November 12th and as the inauguration rolls near, it is already expected to be over one million people in Washington, D.C. Hotels and Motels for over 75 miles away are already booked. Never before in the history of this country has any election compared, in citizen participation.
The Barack Obama campaign moved thousand of first time voters to actually get out and vote. Thousands of kids that had never voted before were waiting at the polls to cast there votes. November 4th 2008 goes down in history as the day we voted into office the first Black President of the United States of America.
Local elementary, middle and high schools, took efforts to involve young students in the learning process of voting and bring awareness of how important it is. In some local middle schools in the Norfolk, Virginia area, kids even had a mock election, where they took the time to learn how to cast votes.
