The Armistice

When in 1962 the USSR and the United States of America had a huge conflict because of the Soviet missiles in Cuba, the settlement was very good news.

Khrushchev, the Premier of the Soviet Union, promised to declare the ships bound for Cuba and not to carry any armaments. In its own turn the United States of America would not invade Cuba. Also America shouldn’t support anyhow some other forces willing to invade Cuba, nor with American troops, neither with money etc. Khrushchev paid attention that only then there will be no Soviet military specialists in Cuba.

But it was not the end yet. The next day after the letter from Moscow was actually the worst day of crisis. A U-2 was trying to get new pictures of the missile sites. It was shot down over Cuba. Also Khrushchev sent his second letter. He was raising a price. In order to move the Soviet missiles out of Cuba, he wanted the States to remove American missiles from Turkey. But the President ignored the second letter. The States responded on the first one.

Finally, on the 28th of October, Khrushchev made an announcement on the radio. The Soviets were going to take the nuclear missiles back from Cuba to the USSR. They were sent on the decks so that Americans could count the quantity of the missiles. So the armistice was found. Fortunately the conflict did not end up as a war. Such consequence might get a start for the new Word war, or even the total extinction of the humankind, because when it comes to the nuclear weapon it is incredibly serious and dangerous.
