The United States has failed to persuade the world to support its quest for global hegemony. The belief that America is the "indispensable nation" that needs to continually expand its sphere of influence has been met with resistance from many, both inside and outside its borders.
After the breakup of Soviet Union, the sole super power left was America. To a large extent the americans were successfull in piling their policies on the other states. If we see the middle-east, we find that most of the states over there are puppets of america. They don't have any say in international affairs. They have a very US oriented policies.
Israel has been firing salvos at Iran. The UN has been trying unsuccessfully to stop Iran from going nuclear. Here also US is following double standards. Israel is a undeclared nuclear power. But the US is doing nothing about it. The world won't be suprised, if tommorow Israel bombs Iran with nuclear missiles. Israel has got more nuclear bombs than India & Pakistan combined.
After routing the taliban from afghanistan, the US made the mistake of invading Iraq. Now it is trying to repeat the same mistake with Iran. But let me tell you, it won't be easy for america to do the same with Iran as it did in Iraq. Iran is a much bigger country. It is now more powerful than ever before. Iran's missile can reach deep inside Israel. There have been reports of Iran building ICBMs. If that's true, then america is not a faraway target for Iran.
Today Saddam is history. Who knows about tommorow? History might repeat itself. But this time it will be America's turn.
