I founded Women's Legal Resource in 2006 to help women who face the brutal challenges of the family law court system. After going through my own experience in the Family Law Court without the financial resources to obtain proper counsel, I was faced having to represent myself. All though I faced many legal hurdles, I felt the need to help other women and advocate specifically for those who are Domestic Violence Victims. Women's Legal Resource is a nonpartisan organization that supports the efforts for Domestic Violence Reform and Family Law Reform. The present laws as they are written are flawed and do not meet the language of our ever growing savvy Hi-Tech protocol of the 21st Century, which places victims in danger.
A victim recently reached out to the newly appointed White House VAWA Advisor, Lynn Rosenthal and during the conversation, Rosenthal stated, “I can’t do nothing to help your situation.” Rosenthal continued by saying, “the Vice President is very concerned on this topic and I relay your situation to him.”
I should say I am disappointed, but I won’t. This is exactly what I expected would happen. I sent a letter to Rosenthal, Attorney General Eric Holder and two employees of the crime victims compensation board here in California and received no response from either party.
What I am deeply concerned with is this, a victim was brave enough to make that call, explained her story, and was basically given a canned response to a crisis. I no longer have respect for Vice President Biden, in fact, talk is cheap at this point. If Vice President Biden is so concerned about violence against women, why won’t he take notice to the fact that the very system he created and supports is flat out failing?
It just proves that Lynn Rosenthal was placed there to be a face with no executive power to help anyone and is merely a glorified answering service for the Violence Against Women Act. Is this going to save the lives of women and children?
Why is the White House making it so hard for the public to get answers to a very simple question, "Can you help me". What is Lynn Rosenthal's real purpose with the White House? Could it be that the system Vice President Biden and Rosenthal believe in is a farse?

US new strategy not based on ground realities
By: Farman Nawaz | 07/01/2010Recently America has announced that there is need of negotiations with those Taliban which do not want to live under the yoke of Al-Qaeda. Now the questions arise “are there different groups in Taliban, like good and bad Taliban?” And who is supporting those so called good Taliban? If these good Taliban can survive on their own and face Al-Qaeda and Bad Taliban so why America is not able to defeat those bad Taliban? And what is the difference in the policies of these two kinds of Taliban?

Should Gordon Brown have used the 'C' Word?
By: Phil Marks | 06/01/2010The high UK tax burden (more than 40% and growing) has been brought into sharp focus in the last few of months in the UK, but is really in the spotlight now as the General Election campaign gets underway, January week 1, 2010. The main UK election battle ground between the political parties is the massive mountain of debt facing Great Britain and how it is to be reduced. Gordon Brown has avoided using the word 'Cuts' - could it have cost him the Labour Party Leadership?

President Obama is not listening to the truth about the VAWA
By: Randi Rosen | 27/10/2009 | PoliticsAs October comes to an end, Domestic Violence should be a daily awareness. I am disturbed at the fact that President Obama signed a proclamation (see below) that no victim of violence should ever be alone and should receive the services needed to be safe and just learning about it today.

By: Randi Rosen | 19/08/2009 | National, State, LocalVentura County Sheriffs Department should be held accountable for firing Claudia Valenciana and for not protecting one of their own. There was no excuse for terminating Valenciana from her position as Deputy Sheriff. This appears to have been a sexist move in the good ol’boysclub. There is this saying in Ventura County, “Go to Ventura on Vacation, come back on probation.”
