Online Business - Google Adwords and Adsense

Information Marketing is the business of buying and selling information, usually online, but sometimes offline depending upon where business takes you?

Google's Adwords Program is a program for businesses selling products online. Google's Adwords Program is a program that allows these businesses to advertise; to create their own ads, for their products, and have those ads displayed on other web sites.

Have you ever heard someone say, “make money with Adsense”? Google's Adsense Program is a program that is available to anyone who has a web site, even if you are not selling products. The program is free, and you are allowed to place “Adword” ads on your web site, in accordance with but a few rules, and YOU get paid when someone visits your web site and clicks on one of YOUR Adword ads!

You can sign up directly at Google for either the Adwords or the Adsense Program, or both!

Google Adwords and Adsense Programs belong essentially to the category of advertising, or getting paid to advertise. There are also many other types of online business opportunities, ways to advertise, products to sell, and much, much more!

Google's Adsense Program can essentially “be” your business. With Google's Adsense Program alone, your web site acts as a sort of “backdrop” for your real business of advertising for other advertisers!

The purpose of this article is to explain, in simple enough terms, how to begin thinking about a web site, how to build a web site, and how to get started in the Google Adsense Program. The remainder of this article will outline for you the exact steps you need to take, from start to finish, to get up and running with the Google Adsense Program.

Designing a web site that can even be found in cyberspace by people that “surf” the Internet, and/or potential customers, requires the application of a concept called “keywords”. Whenever someone types a word or phrase in a search engine like Google, or Yahoo, that word or phrase is referred to as a “keyword”. Some keywords are typed a lot on the Internet, by a lot of people, and those are popular keywords.

Keywords should also be relevant to your site, and/or to your product. Keywords should be included both in the content of your individual web pages, within your site, and within the “meta tags” you design for each page in your web site.

Keywords applicable to this very article might be something like “information marketing google adwords adsense”, or even “adsense marketing google adwords information”. (People might type something like the above in the Search field at Google if they are trying to locate information on information marketing, and the Google Adwords and Google Adsense Programs.)

Once you come up with an idea for a web site, you will need to make a list of a minimum of twenty-five effective keywords. (Some very large web sites employ hundreds of “niche” keywords!) These keywords will become the “building blocks” for your web site.

You select EFFECTIVE keywords by which your web site will be designed around. Keywords are the means by which people will find you on the Internet, and using EFFECTIVE keywords helps to attract visitors to your web site.

To find yourself twenty-five or more EFFECTIVE keywords to begin building your web site with, start by brainstorming a list of words, or phrases, using topics of interest, and/or words that you have an interest in building a web site around. Once you have your group of words, you then proceed to determine the effectiveness of each of these “keywords”.

To determine the effectiveness of any word, phrase, or keyword, you can use a program such as WordTracker. (WordTracker lets you type in a word or phrase and searches the Internet to see how frequently that particular word is being typed into search engines. Any word found to have a Keyword Effectiveness Index, or KEI, of ten or greater, with a competition factor of less than five thousand, is considered to be an EFFECTIVE keyword.)

Once you have your EFFECTIVE keyword list, it is time to begin designing your web site. You will use your keywords as often and as frequently as you possibly can within the content and “meta tags” of your web pages. You will build and publish your web site around these EFFECTIVE keywords.

(How to go about building a web site is beyond the scope of this article, but I can recommend a program called Yahoo SiteBuilder. It is free to download, and very easy to use, even if you have no experience in building web sites.)

You will also need to familiarize yourself with a concept called SEO, or search engine optimization, so that you can effectively get your web site noticed by as many of the major search engines on the Internet as possible. For example, building a links library into your web site is a good idea as links are necessary to getting higher search engine ratings!

Once your site is published on the Internet, and registered with the major search engines, such as MSN, Yahoo, and Google, simply sign up for Google's Adsense Program, and go to work selecting your Adwords (Google ads) and place them on your web site. Also, please make sure that you read terms of your agreement with Google so that you clearly understand the rules of what to do, and what not to do. (For example, you are not allowed to visit your own published web site and click on Adwords. i.e., paying yourself!)

Also, Google Adsense code is not allowed to be placed on any pages with adult content!

With your site, now laced with Google Adwords, up and running, your focus is now to attract and/or direct as much Internet traffic as possible to your web site. There are numerous ways to do this, and you should research and make use of all of the methods you can find. Again, all of this is beyond the scope of this article.
