Hi everyone reading this baby article as a Premature baby shop website owner I thought it only fair to let parents - to - be know what is happpening to the uk baby goods market now that the uk has entered an offical recession and the effects it could have on you buying baby goods now that you are pregnant.
1. Before you decide to pay weekly for that pram or cot ask the baby shop will you be closing or how is business now that a recession is on. Do not be tempted to buy a pram if the shop is closing as you could loose your deposit if the shop goes into liquidation or administration.
2. Buy prams in the sale with complete sets enclosed such as pram raincover, sunshade etc because you may struggle if the shop or business closes and you need a spare part made by the company itself.Pay Cash or Credit Debit cards there and then, try not to be tempted into using a catalogue buy now pay later scheme because even the best businesses can go bust including recent news items such as Reebok loosing jobs, Woolworths closing,Adams baby clothes shops going into liquidation etc.
3. By making lots of contacts we have found suppliers and distributors of certain baby products such as baby bottles, sterlizers etc going bust so they wont be as readily available to some shops any more. Prices for prams, high chairs etc by certain makes prices are being increased.
4.Don't be tempted to put your child's safety and health at risk if you are thinking of buying second hand goods. All second hand Electrical products ie bottle warmes are a no no, as also baby car seats, these could have been in a car crash and longer be safe to use although the owner may say oh yes its fine.replace mattresses for cots and moses baskets with a new one if you do not want to buy a new cot.
we hope you find the article useful and pass the information on to any one who is pregnant seriously
