Between twelve to seventeen years of age, up to 90 percent of adult bone mass is built. You should therefore in no case diminish your intake of calcium, vitamin D and vitamin C, which are the essential vitamins for correct bone growth. Weight loss should therefore be well planned and carried out in this critical period.
The first thing I would recommend you is to have breakfast. A nourishing breakfast will kick your teen's metabolism and give it the energy to tackle the whole day. It may even prevent you from eating too much during the rest of the day. You will not have to snack at 10 if you follow this advice.
The next advice is to watch your portions. You only have to have assurance in your eyes and make confident that you decrease your portion sizes by at least 20 %. Put that discarded percentage away and leave it in your dish or take it home with you. There is no shame it that! Your body will be promptly familiarized to those new sizes and you will discover that you can loose around 20 kg without altering anything in the foods you like eating.
You must be aware that the standard 12-ounce can of soda contains 150 calories and 10 teaspoons of sugar. The calories and sugar in fruit juice, especially in coffees and other drinks can add up quickly as well. Prefer water instead of soda and other sugary drinks. It will prevent you from taking-in additional hundreds of calories and sugar. You can of course consider making your own fresh fruit juice or varying brands of water to prevent you from getting bored.
The next suggestion is promoting physical activities. You must be conscious that like adults, teenagers require about 60 minutes of physical activity per day. I am not asking you to exercise hardly to become a physical athlete. Plan a light-exercise program such as walking an hour per day and stick to your program. Even household tasks such as vacuuming and washing the car have aerobic advantages.
You should also be conscious that a lot of teenagers take-in foods when they're bored, lonely, stressed, or continue eating long after they're full out of habit. Try to pay attention when you eat and stop as soon as you are full. You should also consider eating at a lower pace because it takes approximately 20 minutes for your brain to distinguish how much food there is in your stomach. Did you hear about Hoodia Gordonii? Well it is a succulent plant which grows in the deserts of South Africa. It was used by the Bushmen to prevent them from getting thirsty and hungry. You can consider taking Hoodia to help you suppress your appetite and thirst.
Rather than following the diet alone, bring in your entire family. After all, consuming foods that are more nourishing and getting more exercise is beneficial for everybody. You can start by encouraging your family to eat more fruits, fresh vegetables and whole grains but make sure that you set the good example.
