Tree of Life

Last week I hired a contractor to help me with the remodel of my family room which we have putting off for a long time. He just completed his first day of work and of course everything that could go wrong – did. Murphy’s Law at work. When he went to leave our house, his truck wouldn’t start so I offered to give him a lift since he lived only a few miles down the road.
While we were driving, he sat in stony silence. As we approached his home, he asked that I come in to meet his family. As we opened the door and was greeted happily by his wife and three children, I noticed that there was a Christmas looking tree in corner of the living room.

Since it was not Christmas, I asked him about the tree. He immediately had this wonderful smile on his face as he began to explain that this was his “trouble tree”. Trouble tree I asked with curiosity? He said that he knew that he could not help having troubles on the job, or troubles in life, but one thing for sure is that those troubles did not belong in his loving house with his family … So I just hang them on a tree every night when I come home and ask the universe to take care of them for me. Then in the morning I pick them up again. Funny thing is – when I come down in the morning to pick them up, there aren’t nearly as many as I remembered hanging on the tree the night before.

Life may not be the party we had hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance and enjoy our time together in this world. We all need a tree of life.

This is really about the “laws of the universe” and how we can let go and experience the dance of life.
