Although businessmen know they have to spend money to make money, it’s no excuse to spend wantonly on your advertising campaign. Small businesses for one can grow their business from simple advertising campaign like postcard printing. It delivers a high response rate for the least cost.
Your other marketing materials can be printed quite cheaply in a few thousand pieces, but when you consider the related costs such as shipping, storage, and distribution costs it may make you think twice.
When comparing postcards and your other marketing materials, you have to consider both the effectiveness of the marketing material and their total cost.
Here are a few things you should think about:
1. Although postcards are printed on thick high quality paper in the same photographic quality print, these postcards are also cheap to print. You can have a few thousand pieces printed for a few cents each, while have several hundred pieces printed with little additional costs.
2. Doubling up on your postcards may also double up your cost, but it can still be relatively cheaper than your other prints. Brochures, flyers, and other large volume prints will incur additional related costs.
There may be cheap printing companies, but the cost of shipping will add up to the price quote. When the prints get to your office, there are also storage costs to reckon with. Your office is an expensive commercial real estate space your bulky prints can easily clutter up. Distributing these prints also add up to their ultimate price.
3. Targeted advertising generates higher response rate than your conventional indiscriminate marketing materials. A direct-mail-postcard for instance sent to your existing clientele or a target psychographic will generate more leads than giving out flyers in a street corner or plastering posters on lamp posts.
4. Sending out postcards is far more predictable than stumble-upon advertising strategies. You are able to predict the time the postcards will reach your customer’s doorstep and approximate when it will be read. This will give you a lot of room for creating offers that are time limited to create urgency for your customers to act.
5. Also, you can use the predictability of the postcard to create an advertising schedule. The frequency of your advertising has as much effect on the impact on your sales as the over all scale. In many cases, the more frequent you advertise to a given customer increases your chances of response rate.
6. Your postcard is primarily a visually stimulating media intended to be looked at for the sheer aesthetic value. They have an immediate appeal that resonates even before your marketing message is read. People are quick to come up with instinctive or intuitive decisions they often use to filter out your marketing message.
Postcards are an effective marketing media you can use to hold your message. Remember though that postcard printing despite its virtues cannot replace a good offer or a great product. The success of higher sales still lies in the customer experience with your business.
