Pay attention to the details in your calendar, they can spell the difference between being hung in the living room and being kept in the back closet. Remember calendars are more than a simple table of dates and days.
1. Holidays
a. People look to the calendar to consult it about the important holidays. There are holidays that can go without an announcement such as Christmas and July 4th, but it makes sense that people consult what day they fall on.
b. Also, other holidays that may be less popular should also be noted. These can be religious holidays of different religions, or simply holidays to celebrate historical dates. Knowing about other people’s holidays will explain perhaps why the traffic is worse than usual or even educate you more about other cultures.
c. More importantly, distinguish between the working holidays and the non-working holidays. It would help them to plan their vacations in advance, or at least save them the hassle of bringing their kids to school and finding out the school is closed.
2. Lunar calendar
• It used to be that people consult the moon to tell them what time of the month it is, or the activities they should be doing. Although we have gone a long way from that, there are still people who follow the lunar calendar for their activities.
3. Saints and Angels
• Believe it or not, there are a lot of people who refer to the calendar to name their children. They tend to name their children after the saint or even angels whose birthday fall on the day or date their child falls on.
• Other than that, including the saints’ name will guide you in knowing who your patron saint is, according to your birthday. There are also some communities that celebrate the day of their patron saint.
4. Trivia
• Never underestimate people’s fascination for trivia. The popularity of game shows should attest to that.
• Make your calendar more interesting. Include trivia of important dates in the history of science, geography, fashion or even music, depending on the industry you’re business is related to.
• Your trivia should be interesting to read.It can be about anything, include landmark case decisions or the invention or patenting of popular house items. It could also be something about your own company history that your clients might not have heard of before. You can dispel any rumors about your company at the same time with such trivia.
5. Others
• Add small stickers to your calendar your clients can stick into their own personal important dates. Create fun stickers for birthdays or anniversary reminders. Your customers will appreciate the extra gesture, and will make them want to hang your calendar.
Before having your calendar printed, also remember to double check dates. Next year is a leap year, so there is an additional day. Calendar printing is a fun project, and a good promotional material. Customers put them on prominent spots year long and are consulted for important dates and reminders.
The potential of calendars is largely dependent upon your creativity. Design your calendar to be both fun and interesting. Make your calendar printing a truly rewarding one with these useful tips.
