If you are creating custom labels for your products you must always check your designs before going through with label printing. You don’t want to send a defective label design to the label printing company. That is why it is always a good idea to have a standard checklist for your label designs. Written below is one such checklist. You can use this as reference for your own printing of label in the future.
• Is the text legible? – The first item on the checklist for label printing is the legibility of the text. This means that the text of the custom label must be easily readable even from a significant distance. Check this by placing your label design in set distances further and further away from you. Try to see if you can determine the exact distance limit where the product labels become unreadable. If it can be read from a pretty far distance then your labels pass this first checklist item.
• Is the logo understandable? - Next, you may also want to scrutinize your logo and check for errors. Does the logo appear clear? Can you understand the logo easily or is it hard to figure out what is it all about? Your logo is the identity of your product and what it represents. So make sure that it looks as impressive as you can, so that people immediately can recognize the quality of your products.
• Does the image seem effective? – Afterwards, try to see if the images seem effective for your labels. Does it supplement the message of the label? Does it show effectively what the product is all about? Always make sure that the images are the best match for their products so that the image and the text can go hand in hand in making the label design look good.
• Did you use the right color? - Also, please check if you used the right color for your labels. They must be distinct from your rivals to make the label different and original, while still being simple enough not to look tacky or corny. Just always remember to match that color with the overall theme and goals of your labels so that no design clashes will occur.
• Are the label dimensions right? - Check as well if the dimensions of the labels are as big or as small as you want. A lot of mistakes happen in label printing when you print labels that don’t have a snug fit into an item. Always check for this error so that you won’t waste valuable time and money in printing your labels for things that they won’t fit in.
• Did you use strong materials? –Finally, try to see if you are printing your labels using strong paper materials. Labels need some moisture and dirt resistance since they will usually be exposed to different environmental effects. To make the label last, always print in good quality and strong materials that lessens the deterioration process. So make sure your labels last long by checking the paper stock if they are good enough for what you can afford.
So that is the checklist for label printing. Check on these items one by one to see if you are indeed ready for label mass production. Otherwise go back to the drawing board and try again.
