The standard for today’s commercial printing companies is full color printing. The demands of the market have made this the printing service of choice. Almost everywhere we look, we see volume upon volume of colored prints.
From popular and glamorous magazines to the labels of canned foods bought from the grocery, we are met with full color prints. However, what does it really take to get accurate prints?
Many people unfamiliar about colors and full color printing sometimes get trapped within the seemingly complicated processes of printing. One of the most common concerns, of course, is how to obtain the desired colors in their prints.
The color we see on our monitors can only be closely matched by professional printers. There are several factors as to why it is impossible to bring the colors we see onscreen into the physical world in their purest form. However, there are also certain ways to overcome this. Read on and find out.
1. Computers, digital cameras, video cameras and other devices have different calibrations. This means that your computer monitor, which is an output device may display colors differently from that of your digital camera.
The same thing goes for your personal printer. What you see on your screen can only be matched as closely as possible by your personal printer.
Color profiles found in equipment are different. Hence, it affects the appearance of your images on the screen of different devices every time.
2. Colors that appear on screen and on print are different because they are different media. Monitors use light to create and combine the colors we see, whereas paper relies on natural light to reflect back the vividness of the colored inks we see.
3. Most image capturing devices are rendered in RGB. On the other hand, commercial printers use CMYK. In the process of converting, recreation or reproduction of the colors, sometimes, retrieving the exact colors may be lost. Original colors may only be replaced or substituted.
As in the case of photos from digital cameras, they have to be converted to CMYK to be processed for printing. Such that RGB photos have to be changed into CMYK mode.
4. Colors, of course, can be adjusted. However, it may take a certain familiarity or a degree of expertise in order to attain the right combination or cyan, magenta, yellow and black to replicate the original colors of RGB.
5. Many printing companies offer various services to aid you in your printing project. There are professional in-house designers who can create the designs, effect and colors that you want in your prints.
There are certain limitations to printing. Special colors that cannot be accurately captured by full color printing have to use store-bought, pre-made, precision-color inks. This occurs more frequently among popular brands.
Businessmen know how colors can be used to full advantage. The brand logo and name are rendered in a specific color. Even by looking at the packaging alone, a brand can easily be identified and picked out by its sheer color.
Colors contribute a lot to brand recall. These are part of a product’s trademark that sets it apart from the rest. Having a distinguishable color heightens up a brand’s identity and establishes it firmly in the consumers’ consciousness.
Full color printing works to accommodate and satisfy all your printing needs. Be it for business printing, packaging, labeling and the likes. Commercial printers offer very competitive packages while delivering premium, full color materials.
When it comes to expert full color printing, seek the one who’s been trusted for years in the business. It always pays well to get an expert on the job.
