Visit these pages for more information on hang tags and tag printing
Hang tags are the perfect tool to establish and mark your brand into your products. Tag printing can assure customers of their quality since a brand and company is taking the responsibility in its production. That is why, even if you are a small business, tag printing is an essential and good investment. However, not all small businesses can afford to hire professional printing services for hang tags. If you are just a small home based business you may not have enough capital to go for a full hang tag printing campaign.
Do not be worried though, since there is a nice alternative to professional hang tag printing. You can print your own hang tags from home using your computer and printer. Hang tag printing isn’t really that hard to do, and with the few tips we are giving you below, you should have a pretty good idea of how it can be done at home.
So here are the steps in making homemade hangtags
1. Setting your first piece – Using an image editing application, create your first piece or design for your home made hang tag. A good standard dimension for it would be 2x3.5 inches. Add in your company name, your tag line and probably your logo if you have one. Next, don’t forget the details of your product like its name, materials and other important information like washing details or warnings. Make sure that all of these elements fit the hang tag dimensions, and increase or decrease font sizes when necessary.
2. Copy your design into a grid – Once you have your base design. It is time to multiply them. The best way to do this is to create a separate document which has the dimensions 8.5 by 11 inches. This is your standard letter sized paper. Choose the option to display the grid for your workspace so that you have some working guidelines. Next, copy you base design onto the canvass. Position it on the top left of the canvass. Then keep copying the base design over and over until you create a grid of hang tag designs onto the canvass. Once you have a nice grid, adjust all of the designs into the center so that the empty spaces can be your printing “bleed”.
3. Buying card stock – Afterwards, you need to buy some card stock. Actually there are a few paper stock options that you can do here. Just go to your stationary shop and find letter sized card stocks that can be applied as a hang tag. Choose paper stock that is a bit thick and glossy. Try to avoid the textured card stocks though, since this might not prove too good for your home printer.
4. Printing your hang tags – Once you get a nice card stock to use, then the next step is printing. Just place your stock into your full color printer and print away your hang tags. Be sure to put in the correct settings, and watch if your designs get cut or smudged. Adjust your dimensions and printing layout if necessary.
5. Cut them out into shape – Afterwards, you just need to cut them into shape. The best way to cut them would be a cutting board of sorts, the ones that are usually used for cutting pictures and cardboards. If you don’t have those, then a simple scissor would do. Be careful though and try to stay within the lines.
6. Add accessories – Great! The hang tags are virtually done! As a finale, all you need to do is to add ribbons, strings and other accessories to make your hang tag extra appealing. Try to match these accessories with your overall hang tag layout.
Those are the simple steps in creating homemade hang tags. Hang tag printing is an easy enough job to do at home that requires little to no training. You can easily apply this to your small business without too much effort. So go ahead and try it out.
