How to Make your Catalog Designs More Affordable

Cheap catalog printing is not an impossible goal. There are simple ways out there to produce cheap catalogs without really going into the ugly end of catalog printing. It is all really about adapting your printing process and doing some of your own work. In this little guide, I will teach you how to make your printing process a little bit more affordable and make it possible for your to produce cheap catalogs that look great.
1. Do it yourself – The first real rule to cheap catalog printing is to do it yourself. Make your own designs yourself using your computer and then print them out using your own printer. This cuts the costs of paying a layout artist for the design, a photographer for the pictures and a printer for the printing. With all the technology and software that are available to most people today you can do all your catalog printing yourself. As long as you are willing to learn and you are determined, you can do this.
2. Make them smaller and manageable – The next rule to making cheap catalogs is to make them smaller and more manageable. Size doesn’t really matter in catalogs. It is all about the presentation and the proper distribution of catalogs. So if you make your catalogs smaller, you can cheapen the cost of printing since they become smaller, while you also make it easier to distribute your catalogs. So in effect you can save your money printing catalogs while increasing the efficiency of your catalog distribution.
3. Use something simple and straightforward – Next, we have the rule of simplicity. cheap catalogs are usually simple, straightforward and very understandable in their design. There are no complex and artful gimmicks with expensive and special inks. They don’t use special shapes, and don’t particularly need special folds. Simple designs are just easier to produce and therefore cheaper to make. So keep your design simple and the printing should be affordable.
4. Know your catalog printer – Another great rule that you should follow is to know your printer. If you know the best printing options that are cheap, and the correct time of the year when they offer discounts, you can take advantage of that knowledge and score a few points in saving money. Just do not be afraid to ask your printers about this information. They should be happy to provide it as long as they gain a loyal customer.
5. Print wholesale – Finally, as a standard rule to saving money in printing, you should try printing in bulk or wholesale. Printers typically cut the cost of catalogs per piece the more orders you have. So I you plan on deploying a lot of catalogs, print all that you need all at once to take advantage of that discount.

Great! Now you know how to make your catalogs more affordable to make.
