Letterhead Printing 101

Whether you’re a simple family business starting to build a name in your industry or a huge conglomerate cultivating your image, letterheads pretty much give a subtle yet significant marketing influence to your company. It provides a visual icon of the company, as it is used for official documents, marketing letters and many other valuable functions. Therefore it is highly desirable to learn more about letterheads and letterhead printing in order to generate more favorable attention to the company. Below is a short reference guide.

What
The first step in letterhead printing is determining what you should include in your letterhead. You should establish what goes where in your letterhead so you would have a working idea how much specifics your letterhead contains.

The most important information includes your company's name, the company's contact details and the company's logo. The board members or other prominent people responsible for the company can be included as well. Bear in mind that what you put in must be clear-cut contact information for your company, and that they must be a full representative of your range of services.

How
Next is the actual designing process. Nowadays, it is most convenient to design a letterhead through a computer. There is a lot of software available for this kind of designing. The easiest way to accomplish this is through the use of pre-made templates available through the common word processors, such as Microsoft Word or OpenOffice.org Writer, or even Microsoft Publisher. These software programs usually have a wizard or guide on how you can personalize your templates for easy use.

Now that you have a software, remember to keep the design in line with your company’s vision. Don’t forget to be inspired and get creative with your design. A word of caution though, an overuse of images can distract the client from the content. Be sure to keep the letterhead attractive yet not too attention-grabbing.

Where
Choosing where to print your letterheads is also a crucial decision. If you are a small business, you might want to print them right in your office. This way it’s cheaper than having them printed by a printing company, as you won’t need the bulk that they provide. If you are already a large company, having them printed by bulk is a lot easier and cost-effective, so a professional printing company is the wisest choice.

Those are the basics in letterhead printing. Keep these in mind and you’re surely on your way to a better and improved company letterhead.
