New marketing opportunities can be found all over the place, if you just take the time to look. You may think testing new marketing tactics is a waste of time, but you could easily find a marketing opportunity that can make you some easy money.

Here are some ideas to help you come up with some creative marketing techniques that could help bring in an additional cash flow.

Sell someone else’s product. Yes, you read that right. By partnering with a business that complements yours, or that has a product that works well with yours, you could make some extra money without spending a lot of time. There are two scenarios here: you can either sell business X’s product and you get a commission, or you can swap products – you sell X’s product and X sells your product. That way you get sales from customers you never would have gotten before and vice versa for business X. Either way, you go home with more money in your pocket. Be sure to get the word out effectively – use an online flyer printing company to print up promotional flyers that talk about your new partnership or that just say “XX product is available here.” If you are on a street with heavy foot traffic, you can let passersby know by hanging some full color flyers in your windows and on your door.

Use your spare space. Consider renting out any spare space you have to a coffee shop or some kind of eatery. When people stop by to get a drink or some food, they might as well peruse your store while they are waiting or drinking their coffee! You’ll not only get money from your renter, but the customers that the coffee shop brings in can easily turn into your customers. Also, you’ll be giving your current customers a nice place to grab a quick bite to eat that isn’t out of their way. Hang some promotional flyers in your store windows touting the coffee shop and have the coffee shop hang some full color flyers touting your store in their shop.

Another partnering idea: If you have some extra space at your distribution center, rent out that space to another company. You can split the shipping costs or the rent, and even save money by possibly sharing your workforce in the distribution center. You can use flyer printing to let the employees know how to handle your products and what they should do differently while working on your partner’s products.

These are just a few ideas to get you thinking about how you can already use what resources you have to come up with new marketing strategies. If you think about all your resources and network contacts, you’ll probably be able to come up with some original ideas of your own. There’s no reason that these ideas have to be time-consuming or expensive. Try to use what you already have and capitalize on that.
