The Graphic Design Guide For Presentation Folders

Need a great design for folder printing? Well, designing presentation folders is a simple process really. You don’t have to be a long time campaigner in printing to understand the basic steps. In fact it is very easy for a novice to learn how to setup a simple and workable layout for folder printing. So, if you need to learn how to do it, you don’t have to be worried. Below are the six simple tips in creating a graphic design for presentation folders. Use them as a guide to help you in making your own custom folders.

1. Know first your folder – The first crucial tip is to know your folder. There are different kinds of folders out there (in case you still haven’t noticed). There are long type folders, short ones, pocket folders, plain folders etc. So you can’t just create a design without know the proper dimensions and guidelines for the type of folder you want. Luckily, there are plenty of folder templates freely available on the Internet for anyone to use. Just search for the type of folder template you want and you can use it as a good foundation for your design.

2. Make use of full colors – Once you start adding your designs to the template, it is important that you make use of full colors in your design. Black and white designs for custom folders are pretty bland and will not always get you the attention you need for a presentation. So use full color folders with full color images, text and symbols. This should maintain the good quality of your designs.

3. Combine elements well – Also, you should always try to combine your elements well through proper scaling and cropping. Many designers make the mistake in simply patching designs up with different images and elements with disregard to the proper scale and quality of each. It is important that each element must match the rest in terms of its resolution and scaling. Fail that and the designs will indeed look very patched and unreal, adding to a very shabby appearance of the folder. So make sure you take time and scale everything well in its proper size, with attention to placing in elements with the highest possible resolution.

4. Use the front and the back effectively – Do not forget as well, that a presentation folder has a front and the back. Make use of both effectively by printing good and well detailed designs on both. Doing this makes sure that people notice your custom folder whether it is placed with the front visible or the back visible. This gives your folder the best chances of being noticed, whatever happens.

5. Make the insides simple – Now, while the outside of the presentation folder might be intricately designed for impact, the insides on the other hand should be in fact made to be as simple as possible. You must not do anything that distracts people from the content of the folder. So it is usually recommended that you use little or no images on the insides and make it as simple as possible in terms of layout.

6. Add a memorable central design element – Finally, to ensure that people remember your presentation and your presentation folder, it is a good idea to add a central design element that people will surely notice. This can be the logo of your company, or the symbol of your project or product. This image can be enhanced a bit by using metallic inks, or it can even be embossed for great effect. As long as it looks impressive, people will have a great memory of the folder and hopefully the presentation accompanied by it.

That should help you a bit with your own graphic design for your folders. Keep to the guide lines and you should have an easy time making those graphic designs. Good Luck!
