How do you write an effective message to match a good postcards design? Is there a rule to the game? Even if there is, as the advertiser you must know when it is applicable to break them. The size of the material is your first guide as to how you should fill it up with all the elements in their right places.
The common standard sizes for postcards include 4x6, 4.25x6, 5x7, 5.5x8.5, 6x9 and 6x11. You can also have your materials done in custom sizes depending on the style that you want that will best fit your plan.
There are two main parts of the postcard that must be utilized efficiently – the front and the back. But before you proceed with filling those up with whatever you deem as integral on your campaign, you must first think hard about the message. What is it that you want to say? What is the promotion all about? Why did you think about the postcards in the first place?
1. You can create a theme for the event or the promotion that you will be having. It will be better if that theme will remind people a lot about your company, your products and services. You can suit a certain celebration that will fall near the date of your own event. But this must also correspond to what your target market prefers. They are the ones that must appreciate the details that you are presenting.
2. You can focus on a particular product or service that you offer. You can give them a highlight for that event and create gimmicks involving such. This will help you in boosting the sales of that product.
3. You can make the people feel more involved. You can have them join some promos or raffle. You can also give them like tracking numbers that correspond to raffle entries. Just make sure that if you opt for this suggestion, you really have something nice and exciting prepared for your patrons. You don’t want to be tagged as cheap.
4. In postcards design, you must not drown the readers with too much information. The medium has contained spaces that must be utilized well. Choose wisely what you want to say and what you want to include on the ad. Balance the texts and images. Just write down the main things that you want people to know in order to get their attention. They must answer to your call to action in order to know the rest.
5. Study the competition. Gather their materials, including the postcards. You can choose to answer back their claims with better arguments. You can also veer away from how they did their promos. Or you can copy the style if that is what you prefer.
Postcards can be effective marketing tools. Many companies can attest to that. But you have to start right. Create good and valuable postcards design.
