Employment of psychologists in all areas is expected to grow faster than average for all occupations in next 10 years. As more students are affected by family violence, crime, alcohol and drug abuse, the demand for counsel of school psychologists are in grow trend which translate into many career opportunities in this field. Education Requirement

The minimum requirement to be qualified as a school psychologist is varied from one state to another state in US. Most states just accept a master degree in psychology or counseling while state such as Hawaii and Maine require a minimum of doctorate degree to be qualified for the position. Unless you plan to start your school psychology career in Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania which accept a bachelor degree holder as school psychologist, you better go for at a master psychology or counseling degree so that your qualification is accepted in most states.

In term of education channel, you can choose to earn your psychology degree through a campus-based university or enroll in one of online psychology degree programs offered by your preferred online university. Nature of Work

The main job functions of a school psychologist may include consulting with teachers regarding classroom behavior problems, administering standardized tests, and developing special programs for the intellectually and emotionally challenged students.

Generally, a school psychologist does not serve only one school, you normally need to divide your time between several schools in a geographic area. If therapy is indicated, the psychologist generally refers the child for treatment to a mental health facility in the community.

Other job responsibilities of a school psychologist may include teaching lessons on parenting skills, substance abuse and various topics pertinent to healthy schools. You may also need to do researches on the effectiveness of academic programs and behavior management procedures.

Career Advancement

If you have started the school psychology career with a master degree, further your education level to doctorate degree will increase your competitiveness and competency in your career field to move your career to the level of management position. While your experience gain along your career path will help you to move your career to higher level, you may choose to switch your career to other psychology related fields or be a consultant to several large organizations where psychology expertise is needed.

im 19yrs old. i dont feel myself anymore. about a year ago i visited my gp with problems, he put me on 2wks of antidepressants for a trial run and sent me to a counselor. i felt ok during the 2 weeks but not myself. i never went back, i visited 3/4 different psycholigists/councelors but never went more than once. i didnt feel comfortable bein there. lately, ive been feelin worse, i really miss my old self. i think its been about 3/4 years since i felt like me. i cry at least once a day. i cant sleep when i go to bed, i cant wake up when im suppost to. most of the time i see no point in gettin up at all. im loosin contact with close freinds who dont know whats goin on. i cant get along with my mother or sister. im repeatin my last year at school and i cant get into it. most of the time i dont see the point when i know im goin to fail anyway... what can i do? whats wrong with me? i feel like i went from normal to like this over night! there was no reson for this, it just happened. thats the worst thing, why did this happen, why cant i feel normal???

Hi everyone, I seem to be in a self destructive mode, and it's almost like I'm hell-bent on destroying a marriage with the most wonderful person I have ever known in my life. I am a 32 yr old male and for the last 6 yrs or so I have been having what I consider "spells" that onset without warning.It usually starts with a euphoric feeling of passing out with feelings of conspiracy against me then sweating and shaking and then its gone.Usually all within a minute or less with the exception of evey now and then I'll feel wierd or distant for a couple days which usually ends in the same spells at night while I sleep waking me to pouring sweat.Can someone help answer whats going on with me?
