"First of all, the United States and its administration need to recognize the game of ping pong that is being played. It is being played in the West Bank and Gaza. Now it is being played in Iraq. And who is left to profit; the Russian and Chinese governments who manufacture the weapons to fight the wars."
For the past 30 years Fatah, the ruling party in Palestine, has received $400 million per year in US aid. Many have asserted that those monies have been used to buy weapons that have perpetuated the fighting within the region.
Imperato then asserted that the high volume of weapons in the region have now fallen into terrorist hands.
"Now those weapons have fallen into the hands of Hamas, a known terrorist organization that has taken control in Gaza. The reason for this is that the United States and its allies have been providing weapons to the region for years and now those weapons are in the wrong hands."
Recently, Tony Blair has pushed an agreement allowing Britain to buy defense products from American companies without having to obtain export licenses.
"I want to state that London has become the gateway to the west for the Middle East. The fact is that once these weapons hit London they will fall into the wrong hands," stated Imperato.
Imperato suggested that GPS Tracking devices should be embedded into all weapons so that the United States can monitor whether weapons are moving out of London and into places such as Africa, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe.
"I urge the US Congress not to approve this treaty. By having export licenses our government can make sure that the weapons are reaching the hands of our friends and allies, not our enemies. The larger issue is that the United States should not be selling weapons to any country at all. Doing so only puts our country in danger."
Within the past month, the United States has learned that its sales of weapons to Taiwan have now fallen into the hands of the Chinese government.
