The Pittsburgh Tribune was founded in 1992 in the state of Pennsylvania, USA. It saw day light as an offshoot of the Greensburg Tribune-Review in the aftermath of a press strike at the two previously leading Pittsburgh dailies.

The Pittsburgh Tribune together with the affiliate dailies enjoys a Sunday circulation of 221,000 readers. Considered to have a conservative political bias, the Pittsburgh Tribune is part of the Tribune Review Publishing Company.

The Pittsburgh Tribune has made quite a reputation for its lengthy dealing with cases of social injustice, enquiries in allegations of corruption and government malfeasance.

Such an investigating national story was created when one of the Pittsburgh Tribune reporters took part in an experiment meant to prove the lack of security at the national chemical plants, in the aftermath of September 11, 2001.

Another of the Pittsburgh Tribune stories went national when one of the newspaper’s editors attended a speech at the Massachusetts State House delivered by Teresa Heinz Kerry on July 26, 2004, and entered a dispute on the term "un-American activity".
