"Our very powerful, domineering group of countries has over 6000 years of culture behind them. Our administration needs to have over 6000 years of understanding of their culture in order to create peace in the region," commented Imperato.
Imperato went on to say that while he's never had the opportunity to send his personal condolence to the late President of Syria, Hafez al-Assad, the father of the Syria's current president, Bashar al-Assad, he had a great respect for his leadership.
"I had a deep respect for him and send my late condolences to all of the family members, and most importantly show my respect to Syria's leader and his son Bashar al-Assad as an exploratory candidate of the United States and a representative of the people."
Over the past several weeks, Syria has received a verbal barrage of attacks from State Department spokesman Adam Ereli, Secretary of State Condolezza Rice, and President George W. Bush. In light of these recent diplomatic blunders in the region by our government, Imperato felt that it was necessary to take the time out to request a meeting with President Assad to discuss the mutual interest of all parties concerned in the region.
"I take my hat off to such a young man who has taken the responsibility to fill the role of his father's shoes as president of the country of Syria when in fact, this position is not only highly political and very strategic, it is a position that needs understanding of the west and its democratic society and a mutual reciprocation from the west, understanding the roots of Damascus and the customs of its people," asserted Imperato.
After the United States failed to embrace Syria's new leader, al-Assad for the most part stayed away from last week's UN General Assembly. Al-Assad had originally planned to showcase the new face of Syria at the conference but after the public relations assault on his nation by the United States, he decided to keep a low profile.
Imperato felt that the job for al-Assad will be tough but that the US should embrace Syria's leader instead of embarrassing him.
"When I have the opportunity to represent the people of the US and am granted the opportunity to meet with President al-Assad I will clearly take the diplomatic role in embracing this young man and his courage and try to help him navigate his way through the ever changing economics of the world and to assist him in deploying plans for his country that have a mutual beneficial consideration for all parties concerned."
Imperato then called on the Arab League to assist in the diplomacy needed to be deployed in the region in conjunction with the United States of America . Imperato, someone who has traveled in the region and dwelled amongst its people, also reminded everyone that Syrians have no interest or desire to be at war.
"The fact is that President Assad needs our help in controlling his borders, in organizing his country to be a safer place for all. Through my own personal experience, dealing with the Syrian people, they are very proud strong group with everlasting endurance, with strong military capabilities. They are people of principles and morals as we, and stand for their culture."
Imperato went on to finish his statement with the following remarks: "Unfortunately, the job inherited by President Assad is a courageous and difficult task, and in my opinion our administration should stop the threats to Syria and use diplomacy, good will, and mutual beneficial respect to gain peace in the world. I look forward to having the opportunity to discuss these matters and to represent the people of the United States of America, God willing."
