Every Page

Every page should contain a page header. A page header in APA should be found on the top of every page justified to the right. The page header should contain the first 2 or 3 words of the title of the paper, followed by 5 spaces, and then followed by the page number.

 

Title Page

The title page should contain a page header. Also, the title page should contain a full title, writer's name and section number of course, instructor's name, and date all centered.

 

In Text Citations

 

In text citations must be located in order to allow readers to quickly identify the source of cited information. These in text citations must include author's last name and the year of publication. Citations must be placed inside sentences to make it clear where each idea is coming from. For specific examples see

Bibliography

 

Create a separate page titled Reference List or Bibliography.

All entries should be ordered alphabetically, entries without an author should be ranked alphabetically by their title.

Indent all lines except the first line of each source (overhanging indent). Every overhanging line should be indented 5 to 7 spaces.

Capitalize the first word of any title and any proper names.

The title of all books and journals should be either underlined or italicized.

Use p. or pp. to designate page numbers of articles that don’t have volumes. p and pp. should be used for encyclopaedia articles, chapters MLA general guidelines
