It doesn't matter what your on line business is about, if you haven't written your own ebook yet then you are missing out on one of the greatest marketing opportunities available to you. Even if you think you can't write a single word, a simple ebook is the way to increase your sales and drive traffic to your website.

You don't have to be a polished writer or impress your English teacher to write a profitable ebook of your own. If you can provide your readers with valuable information about your niche then no one will complain about an occasional grammatical error.

Here are the top five reasons why you must publish your own ebook:

1. Become an expert in your field. By writing about an area you are knowledgeable about you will set yourself apart as an expert in your field. This is important for gaining your potential customer's trust and ultimately making a sale.

2. Drive traffic to your website. Ebooks, especially those you give away for free, are an excellent way to generate free traffic to your website. By including links to your products, an introduction about yourself, and even a special offer for readers of the book, you will quickly increase your website's traffic.

Include an introduction to yourself and your website in your ebook. For example, I always include an "About the Author" section that gives a brief, one-page bio. I give a little bit of my background, mention my website and include some reasons why people should listen to what I have to say about the subject I'm writing on.

Additionally, I like to include a "special offer" for readers of the book. This can be a simple email course, a download, or some other useful tool that they can get, just for stopping by my website and joining my mailing list.

3. Generate extra income with affiliate links. Don't limit yourself to promoting your own products and services within your ebook. Include links to other "recommended resources" or even reviews of other products. Find products and services that match the topic of the ebook and include your affiliate links for each. Every time someone makes a purchase based on one of your recommendations you will earn a commission on that sale.

4. Sell your other products. While your ebook must contain truly useful information, you should not shy away from including links to other products or services you offer, especially if they are related to the topic you are writing about. Since you've already provided quality information and proven yourself as a knowledgeable resource about your topic, people are likely to listen to a subtle "plug" about other products or services you offer.

I usually include a page or two of additional resources or information about my products at the end of my book.

5. Make money from direct sales. Finally, you can cash in by selling, instead of giving away, your new ebook. If you're topic is one that really interests your market, and you can write a quality sales letter, you can sell your manuscript directly.

It's not uncommon for an electronic book in PDF format to sell for as much as $97 if the information is truly high in quality and attracts a niche market.

Don't let the thought of writing your own book scare you away from this incredible opportunity to increase your sales and web traffic. Remember, you don't have to be fancy, or even eloquent. Just write the way you speak. Express yourself and your ideas clearly and provide quality information and your ebook is sure to be a success.
