Learn Methods To Quit Smoking

“When there is a will, there is a way …”

Quitting is not difficult if you have a strong will to quit. However, your strong will alone is not enough if you don’t know the right method to quit smoking. There are many ways on how to quit smoking that you can try. Modern methods include the usage of nicotine patches and anti-smoking drugs such as wellbutrin. The effectiveness of these methods is still subject to debate since for some people, these methods are simply  superb but for some, the methods are not working at all. Hence, the researchers continue searching for the “better ingredients” to help those who really want to stop smoking forever. Their research areas now have reached to the alternative pseudoscientific methods such as hypnosis, aromatherapy, acupuncture and herbal remedies.

Herbal remedy is not something new in medicine world. It had been used by our ancestors to cure many illnesses many thousands years ago. It was effective back then and is still effective now. During a stressful time, tendency for a smoker to smoke is very high. During this time, herbal remedies such as kava kava and chamomile are proven to induce calmness which consequently will reduce the tendency to smoke. Another famous herbal remedy is lobelia. It has been used in many modern anti-smoking medicines to reduce nicotine withdrawal effects.

On the other hand, hypnosis method has been gaining more attentions from researchers around the world. Basically, this method’s goal is to create a mental image in smoker’s mind to indirectly tell the smoker that smoking is bad and unhealthy. In order for this method to be effective, smokers must go through more than one therapy session.

The next method worth mentioning here is a Chinese traditional medical treatment known as acupuncture. This treatment can only be performed by those who are specially trained in this area because it requires a high degree of accuracy to find the correct acupuncture points.

Aromatherapy is another simple but effective method for some people.  Normally, during aromatherapy session, certain essential oils are used to create the soothing aromas which can reduce the tendency to smoke.

All these are the methods to quit smoking that can be applied by any smoker who really wants to quit smoking. However, the effectiveness of these methods is still subject to question and the results might vary from person to person. Probably, what the smokers can do is to change their current method as soon as they feel that the method is not working for them. It’s totally up to the smokers
