Austin Real Estate

If you’re looking for a new home in Texas, the options on offer in Austin real estate simply can’t be beat. Chances are that you’re looking to move to Texas to get away from the pressures of the other 49 states (many of which you may have already tried) – and you certainly can’t get much better than Austin.

One major attraction of Austin real estate is the city’s billing as the Live Music Capital of the World. Theoretically speaking, this may just sound like a nice moniker for salesmanship – but practically speaking, it means that any given evening is likely to provide nearly 200 options for live music. Whether your tastes run from Western to blues, from Tejano to Latin, or from hip-hop to rock-and-roll, you’ll find something in one of Austin’s many venues that suits your taste.

Locals bone up on information about Austin’s rich musical history and landscape via the popular PBS Television Series Austin City Limits, which focuses on music developed in the city. Attending tapings is a popular activity, and the show can be caught outside the studio during September’s Austin City Limits Music Festival in Zilker Park. For live music, locals venture to the downtown Warehouse District and Sixth Street, where the majority of live venues are clustered. The major music festival of the year is the South by Southwest Music, Film, and Interactive festival, which draws thousands of audience members and participants each March.

Apart from the wonders of the music scene, Austin real estate provides incredible access to the great outdoors. This is in large part due to Austin’s claim as the “Gateway to the Hill Country” (a moniker that compliments the “Live Music Capital” label). The western edge of Austin bleeds into the Balcones Escarpment, which marks the division of the landscape from hills to flat prairies. Additionally, Austin is surrounded by three lakes, one of which bisects the city and offers 10 miles of hiking and biking trails for city dwellers. Speaking of biking: you might guess that Austinites are avid bikers – and you’d be right. Why? Austin is the hometown of cycling phenom Lance Armstrong. The result is a city that is smattered with bike lanes and trails.

Any way you slice it, Austin Real Estate offers great options. Looking for an incredible music scene? Austin can’t be beat. Looking for an urban location that offers good access to the natural world? Again – Austin can’t be beat. Austin is unique for the wide range of diversity it offers to its residents – if you’re considering a home in Austin, don’t be surprised if you find you simply can’t stomach the idea of ever leaving.
