Consider your Home’s Curb Appeal

Many buyers will give no attention even as to look inside a home if they do not like what they see from the outside. In selling a home, it is important to consider the home’s curb appeal as it push up the value of your home and increase the interest of potential buyers. First impression is vital in selling a home, so make sure your home’s curb appeal stands out from the rest before putting it in the real estate market. There are some easybasics to consider maximizing your home’s curb appeal.

First, snap a few pictures of your home. This is an easy way to have a general look at your home’s curb appeal. It may also help to take some pictures of other homes in the neighborhood that you find entrancing as this will give you some ideas of improving your own home.

Make sure that the outside condition is clean. An unclean yard will make your home less appealing even if it is clean as a whistle from the inside. Before you work on any other projects, see to it that the front yard, garage and veranda areas are clean. Keep your yard free of clutter by taking away things that may detract the view of your home such as dead plants, scattered toys, bikes, broken cars, trash and other unnecessary things that can lessen the appeal.

If your home seems a bit down at the heel, give it a gleaming look by painting the house. The range of painting you can do depends on your budget. Choose colors that will coordinate with the entire paint plan to add curb appeal. If you do not have the money for full repainting the house, have your home power washed. There are smaller tasks that you can do that will improve your home’s curb appeal. Adjust any minor flaws in the trim and repaint the gutters if necessary. Revive rusting metal fencing and gates to almost new condition by using a spray paint with corrosion barrier and prevent future rusting. Match colors.

Improve dull entry by placing stylish and appropriate decorations in the front door and mail box. You may also want to consider enhancing the entry lighting, doorbells and doorknockers and adding solar lights in your porch and along your walkway. Bring new elements to the entryway by placing flagstone and beautiful flowers or low shrubs. A flat yard can be hidden by adding trellis or garden arbor and put some plants that can crawl up the trellis as they grow. To conceal A/C units and meters, use low-height trellises.

The porch can add color and beauty to your house if you affix window boxes or containers to its railings. It will look more beautiful if you add plants and flowers like petunias, pansies, geraniums, ivy, alyssum and miniature roses. They all look superb in the boxes or containers in the porch railing. All these may not be the determining factor but it sure amplify the value and appeal of your home before place it in real estate market. It definitely increases the chances of your home making a good first impression.
