"Dripping Springs, Texas is an agricultural area that is getting a great deal of attention in recent years. As new development comes to the area and as more homebuyers realize that the city offers exceptional value as well as old-fashioned living in the heart of Hill Country, Dripping Springs, Texas is becoming more popular with homebuyers.

Dripping Springs, Texas is also attractive because it has a rich and interesting history. In 1853, three families – the Pound family, the Moss family, and the Wallace family – moved from Mississippi to Texas. They arrived in what is today the Dripping Springs area in 1854 and opted to make their home. Some of the descendants of these original three pioneering families still live in the area. One member of the Moss family officially named the area Dripping Springs in 1857. Over time, other families arrived to settle in the area. Many people were attracted by the abundance of water and the many trees that were ideal for building. In the early years, subsistence farming was possible and that is how most families lived. Eventually, throughout the late1800s, grist mills, cotton gins, and larger farms expanded in the area. By the early 1920s, many local residents gave up farming in exchange for raising sheep and goats for mohair and wool. Until the 1970s, raising livestock remained a very important part of the local economy. In 1981, the community decided to incorporate.

For the homebuyer today, Dripping Springs, Texas offers a wide range of real estate at affordable prices. Subdivisions offer single lots, while ranches and country homes are still available. From single-family homes to large acreages that offer plenty of room to roam, Dripping Springs offers excellent location as well as quality homes.

Dripping Springs, Texas is located close to a number of natural and urban amenities. Natural wonders such as the Pedernales Falls State Park, Hamilton Pool, and the Highland Lakes are close to the city, and offer city residents easy access to natural beauty as well as recreational opportunities. Whether you want to go hiking in the state park or take a dip in Hamilton Pool, you are only a short drive away. If you want to go dining or shopping, the nearby towns of Wimberley, New Braunfels, Fredericksburg, and Marble Falls offer plenty of options, whether you want to go casual or luxury. Austin is only a short drive away -- about 15 miles -- and offers all the big-city amenities you could want. From a major university to lots of cultural and artistic opportunities and plenty of employers, Austin provides everything that most Dripping Springs residents need.

Local residents also can visit the Pound House Museum, which encapsulates the rich history of the town. Lake Travis, considered one of the clearest and largest reservoirs of water, is also nearby. It offers everything from boating regattas is to exceptional fishing. Other Highland Lakes are also close by. The nearby Westcave Preserve allows visitors to visit stunning caves and carefully preserved canyons and grasslands. You can view many of the area’s rarest plants and wildlife here. Residents of town also have easy access to the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park, a major tourist attraction in the area, which outlines the entire history of one of the country's most beloved presidents. Of course, many residents can also enjoy the natural beauty of their backyards. Many homes in Dripping Springs, Texas, have stunning views of the famous Texas Hill country, and the rural area ensures that many people see deer and other wildlife right in their own backyards."
